February marks graduation season for many universities across South Korea. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of photographing Beni in Daejeon as he wrapped up his graduate studies. To celebrate the milestone, he reached out for a portrait session to commemorate the occasion.
We met on campus the day of the ceremony. Rather than covering the event itself (which, as it turns out, usually isn’t open to outside photographers), we focused on a relaxed shoot afterward. Beni picked out a few meaningful spots around campus, which made for some great backdrops and added a personal touch to the photos.
In addition to shots in his cap and gown, we also took a few portraits without the graduation attire—clean, timeless images that could easily be used for professional profiles (hello, LinkedIn!).
Below are some of my favorite moments from the session.
