A few months ago, I was contacted by Branksome Hall to shoot some portraits for the upcoming issue of their magazine, The Read. The subject was Angela Lau, Branksome Hall alumnus and CEO of Pilco Studio in Jeju Island. After some coordination with the editorial staff and Angela herself, I flew to Jeju Island to do the shoot. Our plan was to do a combination of indoor and outdoor shots in and around the Pilco studio, as well as a nearby forest.
I believe the saying goes “April showers bring May flowers”, and Jeju Island takes that pretty seriously. All sorts of weather was thrown at us on the afternoon of the shoot and we had to be fast and flexible. We changed our shooting order on the fly, doing the indoor shots during rain showers and outdoor shots when it let up. The moment we got a decent window, we quickly drove to the forest to do the forest shots. Angela was an absolute pleasure to work with and we were able to get a nice variety of shots within the allotted time. Below are some of the selected images from the shoot, as well as a tear sheet from the final article.
